I agree- seems like the design isn't very functional but with out having used it, its hard to say. We have been using Square for sometime now- the square reader is small and functional. I do however like the color of Coin better. Having said that, I am not sure that the savings is significant enough to go through the hassle of changing from Square, especially if the physical interface is cumbersome in some way... I will have to see Coin in action to determine if its offers some other incentives for switching beyond the savings.

But it looks more inconvenient and bulky compared to the square reader as well as more difficult and comber-sum to actually swipe the card. I mean look at it, its like three times bigger and thicker and it seems as though you can't hold both the phone and the reader while sliding the card, which would get very annoying after a while of not having the screen in front of you while sliding. There are just so many problems i see with this design. This is the point where designing something "just to be different" becomes a detriment in its utility and usefulness. I rather have a small nub attached to my phone rather than some bulky thing I have to hold. Also, having a giant bright orange logo on it doesn't help me like it. Anyways I'm done ranting, haha.
