It’s incredible how ill-informed you are. Not that the numbers couldn’t be better on the Cruze, but the Mazda that you refer to is a Mazda2, which weighs much less than the Cruze, and the engine it uses only makes 83 HP and 82 pound-feet of torque. And Hummer is no longer a brand…so please, try to think before you comment.

Only 42mpg? My Cruze Eco already gets that, and its a regular gas engine.

Yeah, and a lot of people in the US complain that we don’t drill enough at home, and that we should drill more because it will lower our gas prices. The truth is, any oil drilled here will go to the world market and not benefit the US before anyone else.

Yes it does, sadly and all you hear about is how the US found the worlds largest oil reserve that’s close to three TRILLION barrels in the mid west that dwarfs Saudi Arabia. Yet we’re paying $3.75 a gallon. Now Wall st. Wants to export this and you have Alcoa and many big players in industry against this. Take care of the US first then with whats left over your more than welcome to export. I swear Wall St. has it a$$ backwards just so a few people can get rich.

Perhaps the writer was talking of ths first US deisel vehicles in 27 years? But we’ve had trucks on deisel foever. Odd writing it up like this. 42 mpg? That is anemic. Without thinking to much they “could” have these same engines get 65 mpg but sadly the US GOVERNMENT , local and state would lose to much tax revenue. In Japan they have the sky active engine that gets 70+ mpg and won’t allow it over here in thw US. But hey, lets keep making those Hummers.
