Cherrypal launches $99 Africa netbook

Cherrypal made some waves last year about this time when it unveiled its cloud computing platform that wasn't' well received. The company later unveiled its Bing netbook as well. Cherrypal is back today with the unveiling of a new Africa netbook and an updated version of the Bing.

The Cherrypal Africa netbook is a small machine with a 7-inch screen and a 400MHz processor. It has 256MB of RAM and 2GB of flash storage. It can be had with either Linux or Windows CE operating systems. The Africa is designed to be green and require little power to operate.

Cherrypal has also unveiled an updated Bing netbook with a 13.3-inch screen, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD. The machine also features the Intel Atom N280 CPU and a 1.3MP webcam. The big feature of the Africa netbook is its $99 price tag and the new Bing will sell for $389 with Windows XP.
