Worth Reading?

NoYes

Internet speed brokenSince reading about the Japanese scientists that broke the internet speed record yesterday, my 3Mbps DSL has just felt insignificant. As if reading my mind, Ambit Broadband has just released information on their new Channel Bonding Cable Modem that promises unfathomable speed. Well, it’s fathomable, but your old 100Mbps LAN might need an upgrade to keep up.

The new Channel Bonding Cable Modem works by bonding three downstream channels to reach maximum speeds of up to 144Mbps down, and 30Mbps up. With that kind of speed, you might want to consider going with a Gigabit solution for your home network.

Unfortunately, these speeds are only going to be available to customers of Hanaro. Haven’t heard of them? That’s because they’re a Korean ISP, so don’t get your hopes too high about getting this any time soon. The good news is that the technology is out there. Now it’s only a matter of time before we see it over here in the states.

I’ll believe it when I can get it from my ISP. Guaranteed it’ll cost more than three times the normal cable price though, and expect strong resistance from the entertainment cartels.

Just added cable modem here in California, USA – was such a relief after dial-up for so many years. (And I used to be a real computer nut and did cunsulting at one time!)
Now I can’t wait for the new technology and push it even faster. Great!

A matter of time? Yea, right. Have Americans not noticed they are a broke-dick nation? I hate to be the one to break this, but it’s time Americans start coming to grip with reality: America, you are in denial! You are poor! What part of POOR don’t you understand????? Go on vacation in Shanghai or Tokyo or Dubai and just look at their streets and you will see what a wealthy country looks like. Wealthy? That is Saudi Arabia/Korea…..Getting drunk and passing out with your pants down outside da club while screaming “fukc you girl, come suck it!”….yea, THAT’s america! America is broke and trashy, like a North Vegas prostitute. I’m dead serious, America, you’re not the same country you were when your grandpa was fighting WWII. Just accept it, it happens to every nation in history. But if you believe all this high-technology/ innovation stuff is coming your way, then America, you are living in a fantasy, playing your fantasy football…..driving on empty fumes from a bygone era… on the final leg of your drive off of a cliff.
