CAT S50 rugged flagship totes 4G LTE, Android KitKat

CAT has rolled out a new flagship smartphone targeting the outdoorsy, adventurous, I-drop-my-phone-too-often Android users among us: the CAT S50. With this phones comes the same rugged design we've seen with the company's other handsets, as well as 4G connectivity and some other handy features.

The display is a modest 4.7-inches with Gorilla Glass 3 to help protect against scratches and cracks. This is joined by an 8-megapixel rear camera with a flash and the ability to record HD video, 8GB of storage and support for microSD cards up to 64GB, and 16 hours of talk time.

The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and is IP67 rated for dustproof and waterproof construction (it can be used with wet fingers, as a plus), and it is MIL-SPEC 810G rated. Unlike some other rugged handsets, the S50 offers 4G LTE connectivity to keep your browsing speeds up when you're out and about.

Under the hood is an unspecified 1.2GHz quad-core processor — how much memory this device is toting isn't known, but we do know it is priced at $499 USD/479 Euros, and can be grabbed in Slate and Forest colors.
