Casio Logosease underwater transceiver allows you to converse underwater

A division of Casio Computer Company called Yamagata Casio has announced a very cool and interesting new product. The new product is designed for scuba diving and allows divers to converse freely while underwater using a little transducer called the Logosease underwater transducer. This transducer is designed to allow users to have spoken conversations underwater.

With the exception of some specialized diving masks, communication underwater has been limited to hand signals or written signs. The Logoease transducer is small enough to fit into a pocket and is designed to be attached to the strap of a diving mask. The transducer allows normal spoken conversation even with the scuba regulator in the mouth.

The device uses an ultrasound range of 32 kHz allowing wireless communication between users within visual range when underwater. Multiple divers can wear individual transceivers to hold group conversations. The microphone and speaker use bone conduction technology. Reception and transmission modes can be switched by tapping on the device.

The transducer is also designed to modulate garbled underwater speech and transmit it in an easier to understand format. Specifically, the company says that its technology enables users to hear the "N", "M", "B" and "P" consonant sounds that are difficult to produce because the nose is blocked by the scuba mask and an air regulator in the mouth when diving. The device is waterproof up to 180 feet and compact measuring 3.5 x 1.61 x 1.76-inches. There is no indication of pricing or availability at this time.
