Canon unveils 10MP IXUS 1000 HS camera and celebrates 10 years of IXUS cams

Canon has unveiled a new digital camera in its IXUS line called the IXUS 1000 HS. At the same time, Canon is celebrating a decade of cameras in the IXUS family. The new camera is the first in the family to shoot 1080p video at 24fps. Canon offers the 1000 HS in brown, pink, and silver colors.

The compact camera has a 10x optical zoom lens and its thin body make it the thinnest super zoom camera of its kind in the world according to Canon. The 1000 HS has a 10MP CMOS sensor combined with the Canon DIGIC 4 processing system proving quality images and high-speed shooting capability.

Other features of the camera include an optical image stabilization system with lens shift technology, intelligent night shot mode, and 3.7 fps burst mode that can shoot continuously until the memory card is full. The 1080p video recording mode also records stereo sound. The rear LCD is 3-inches and has a glass outer layer. The camera will launch in the UK soon at an undisclosed price.
