Canon PowerShot G7 X leak reveals a high-end compact

Canon might have a new PowerShot camera coming soon and it's going to be quite formidable. With a large 20 megapixel CMOS sensor and a large aperture lens, the PowerShot G7 X seems to promise bright and clear shots taken from a small and portable compact body.

The sensor, as mentioned, is a 1-inch 20 megapixel CMOS, this is paired with Canon's new DIGIC 6 processor engine. In terms of lens specs, it has a f/1.8-2.8, an equivalent of 24-100 mm. It will boast of an autofocus with 31 points, a video 5-axis stabilization system, and Intelligent Optical Image stabilization (OIS). There is a built-in Flash and built-in ND filter as well.

For user control, there is a 1.04-million dot tilting touch monitor. There are also manual controls available for the user to tweak, like a control ring, exposure compensation dial, and manual video control. The PowerShot G7 X is capable of shooting Full HD videos at a rate of 60p. As with any high-end digital camera worth its salt, it comes with built-in WiFi for transferring media and NFC for one-touch pairing with mobile devices.

It still isn't known when the Canon PowerShot G7 X will hit the press. But Photokina in Germany is underway this week, so it is possible we might hear more details or even get a glimpse of this compact there.
