Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II digital camera alleged specifications surface

Canon, which recently recalled some of its cameras over a possible allergic reaction issue, is on the receiving end of a leak today. A post surfaced over on the Chinese language forum Xitek detailing what are said to be the specifications for the PowerShot G1 X Mark II, the upcoming replacement for the current G1 X digital camera.

The Canon G1 X Mark II, which is anticipated to be debuted at the CP+ show in February, is said to have a design similar to the original model, which is featured in the image above. The one exception, according to the leak, is the lens, which is said to be longer on the Mark II than the original model.

Beyond the design, the next version of the camera is said to run on a DIGIC 6 image processor, giving it a bit of power behind the business-esque shell. The lens is said to be a 24 – 120mm f/2.8 – 5.8 lens, while the sensor is a hefty 20.2-megapixel 1.5-inch CMOS sensor — hopefully with such specifications, assuming they pan out, it will hold its own in low-light settings.

Rounding it all out is word the next-generation G1 X will have a so-called "real image" optical zoom viewfinder, while the LCD is said to be a large 3-inches with 922,000 dots. Beyond that, no other details — such as view recording options, software, accessory compatibility, and more — were specified. There's likewise no word on pricing, and Canon has not made any comments on the leak.
