There is no definitive answer as it depends what you’ll be shooting !
I shoot motorsport, and have around £14K worth of lenses in my bag. On the flip side, if all you want to do is shoot some holiday snaps, then the 7D (as good as it is) is probably overkill – but if you insist on it, then a few hundred pounds of lenses will suffice.

they’re pretty damn unbiased about cameras most of the time. The fact of the matter is, Nikon makes a much better still camera at this time than Canon, while Canon makes a better DSLR for capturing video.

7D has better and faster sensor hence why focus will be quicker. You will notice it when you are shooting fast moving object like sports. Megapixel means nothing nowdays

Great. Thanks. I am thinking of taking pictures of interior and architectures. Is there a lense that you would recommend for that application? I do know that I need wider lense for interior, but I am not sure which one to buy. I would appreciate your advise.

Yes. The 7D has both EF and EF-S lens mounts. Your 17-55 is an EF-S lens, so it will work perfectly with the 7D.
