Considering the way too heavy pixel polishing at high iso, and the totally dirty shadows at even the lowest iso of the Canon, I estimated the DXO to be 83, 84 at max when the 95 of the Nikon was published. I was totally wrong... It was worse. Really shocking. It is not good for competition when only one sensor maker is doing a top job.

The only place where the 5D Mark III "does better than the D800 at higher ISOs" seems to be in dynamic range measurements above roughly ISO 2400. Below that, the D800's dynamic range far out performs the 5D Mark III.
The other comparisons all favor the D800.
Sports (low-light ISO): ISO 2853 (D800) vs ISO 2293 (5D III). this test measures the highest ISOs at which the cameras exhibit tolerable noise. what they consider "tolerable" may be a judgement call, but essentially the numbers say the D800 ISO 2853 exhibit the same amount of noise as the 5D Mark III at a lower ISO of 2293.
The signal to noise and tonal range data seem to be nearly identical for both cameras.
And the color sensitivity data has the D800 doing better over its entire ISO range.
