If this new rumor holds true, we can expect Canon to announce its new EOS 40D on September 26. The EOS 40D is speculated to sport a 1.6x 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor. This is an improvement over the 8.2 megapixel on the 30D. The anti-dust is a new feature that’s nice to have for dust free images. The rest of the specs seemed to remain the source: 2.5 inch LCD, 9 focus points, 5FPS, and compact flash based memory card. The image below is just a mock up; so don’t get overly excited about it.

why is it always difficult to get a price for a camera … once again we have the spec but no price…I would also like to see a move from compact flash cards to the SD format which in my view is far more convenient…when will both canon and sony wake up to this on their top end amateur cameras

NeutralFor the record: Canon’s top cameras (1D) do accept SD as well as CF.

Well, I don’t know what you find more convenient in a small card easy lost with less GB and more $ by GB ?

I’m confused why there’s so much buzz about this rumor. So far, the rumor can be boiled down to two statements:
a: The EOS 40D will have two features that the 400D currently has (10.1MP, and the new Integrated Cleaning).
b: The EOS 40D product announcement will coincide with the Photokina Trade Show.
I’m no industry expert, but both of these statements seem rather obvious. So much so that a person could have completely fabricated the story (much like the photo) and still have a very high probability of being proven right.
Here’s another statement that I think should be just as obvious:
c: The EOS 40D will have the DIGIC III with Advanced Noise Reduction and Face Detection.

A Canon rep told me that the 40D will be coming out in 2007 and will be priced in the 30D range
