Canon brings the 20x Ultra-zoom 10MP SX1 IS to US

Canon first introduced the 20X Ultra-zoom SX1 IS Powershot back at PhotoKina 2008. It was the company's first compact digicam to honor its CMOS 10MPimage sensor but only made available to Europe markets. Not anymore, Canon USA has announced the ultra-zoom to be released in US region coming this April, better yet, a firmware update to unleash RAW file capability.

The SX1 IS Powershot features the latest DIGIC IV image sensor, a large 2.8-inch swivel LCD display and a 20X zoom lens, which covers 28-560mm (35mm equiv) focus range with optics incorporating the industry's leading anti-blur optical image stabilizer that's said have improved of up to 4 stops of light.

In a separate announcement, Canon also revealed plan to enable RAW capture on the camera. A firmware update should be released before the camera hit the market. Coming this April, US consumers should able to get their hands on the 20X SX1 IS Powershot at the cost of $599.
