The person taking the photos obviously doesn't know how to use a camera. Mostly likely just kept it in auto and taken snapshots. Don't let these photos discourage the actual potential of the camera. A camera is only as good as the person taking the pictures.

LOL - I'm a Nikon user but am seriously thinking of moving into Pentax 645 territory. I've always been envious of Canon's amazing skin textures - no matter what I do I cannot reproduce that Canon look when taking photos of people. I always get the usual 'warts n all' Nikon shot then have to lightroom/Pshop/pp the image and get a result that Canon get out of the box :
I went for Nikon because I do B&W photos (mainly), and for this there is nothing that comes close to a Nikon for this. If you own any Nikon DSLR just set it to B&W mode, now take photos - No Nikon can take a bad b&w photo, even if you try! Every shot should be hung on the wall - How do Nikon do this? They are magicians for sure!

Well, indeed, new camera. I do not see the "wow" in those pictures, though. It's pretty much the same old with a few technical "switches". How about a comparison with Nikon D800 ? (Don't worry, I do not use nikon and they do not pay me...)
In fact I use Canon (have been using for the past 7 years with various DSLRs - the last one 5D mark II) and I am seriously considering moving my chips into Sony - Carl Zeiss territory.
Good luck folks and may the divine forces of photography give you the eternal blessing.
