Call of Duty: Ghosts launches globally for Xbox 360 and PS3

Activision has announced the official launch of its video game called Call of Duty: Ghosts around the world. Ghosts promises a new story and new innovations for multiple player gaming using a next-generation game engine promising improved graphics. Ghosts marks the first time in the Call of Duty franchise where players are the underdog against an enemy with superior numbers and firepower.

The game takes place after an intense firefight turns a powerful weapon designed to protect us is turned against us and used to destroy everything around the player. The player and his brother encounter what remains of a group of elite soldiers called Ghosts and begin the fight to defend what's left of their home and destroy the enemy.

The game has a new online multiple player experience allowing fans to customize soldiers and squads using male or female characters for the first time. Activision says that there are over 20,000 possible character combinations. The game also has seven new multiplayer modes and includes 14 maps out of the box.

Ghosts also brings 30 new weapons including a Marksman rifle class and 20 new killstreak bonuses. The game is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 now. Gamers who plan to upgrade to the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to a version supporting the next generation consoles for $9.99. The Ghosts season pass is also available for $49.99 and includes four DLC map packs.
