Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 landing on November 13th

Activision has officially announced the next game in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 2. It's the successor to the massively popular Black Ops, originally released in November 2010 and quickly becoming the fastest selling game in US history. It's also the best selling game of all time in the US, UK, and Europe with 25 million sales. As for Black Ops 2, it's pegged for a November 13th release, just in time for the holiday season.

It'll be going up against Halo 4, also due to be released on November 6th, but we're sure than both franchises will collect massive sales regardless of competition. Black Ops 2 will be developed by Treyarch, and this time be set in the future. The year will be 2025, with the plot focusing on the growing tension between the US and China. The two countries are competing for precious resources in order to develop more advanced technology.

The cat was let out of the bag a little earlier than expected yesterday when the launch trailer leaked out onto the internet, but it ran as expected during the NBA game last night for all the world to see. The Activision website describes the game, saying: "Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare"
