And yet even though I don’t waste electricity*, you still feel righteous in having me punished with higher costing consumer electronics for absolutely no other reason than that you feel good about protecting people from themselves. I sure am glad that my financial pain will prevent you from having to bother to “spread the gospel” of unplugging unused devices.

You can go ahead and call me an idiot, but I’ll raise the stakes by calling you a lazy, nosy busybody.

Yeah. They formally codified that concept as the unalienable right to the pursuit of happiness in our nation’s Declaration of Independence. Kinda crazy, I know, drudging up those 200 year old documents. Reading old things is such a bother.

As for corporations, I happen to believe that if people don’t agree with what a corporation does they should *gasp* try holding them accountable by refusing to do business with them via organized boycotts. It’s really not that difficult. With the internet and social networking websites at your fingertips you are in a better position than any generation in the history of the world, so stop being so lazy and do something about it. Cut it out with this “I’m such a victim and I deserve to be protected” mentality.

Lets see, 170 MILLION handset chargers..saving 306 MILLION dollars a year. Now then. Each charger saves $1.80 a YEAR on that persons electric bill. The “improved” chargers likely cost more to make, so sell for more money, and likely operate at higher tolerances, so they go out sooner under the stress. SO. I can now save $1.80 a year on my electrical bill but pay $5 more per charger and have to purchase them more frequently!
