its a good idea for apple to launch a social network but i think it will not be so innovative and new for people because people are so addicted to face book and other social networks that they don’t need any other.

i think you hate apple. you just want to believe they are evil. if you think apple hates it’s customers more than Microsoft you should really back it up with facts. if you think apple has worst privacy practices than google or Facebook you should back it up with facts.

I can’t honestly figure you guys out. You routinely
produce thorough pieces on new products…. And then there’s a healthy dose of
this nonsense. Let me imagine a future
product with no substance other than it would be wonderful and unique. Perhaps this appeals to fanboys, but
all it takes is one of these posts to undermine any credibility you’ve gained
through numerous good product reviews.

Even if you keep telling yourself that, it won’t ever be true. Apple has more disdain for their customers, and consumers in general, than Microsoft even. All they care about is their image and their profits. Don’t make the mistake of thinking otherwise.

apple tends to look after the privacy of it’s customers. becoming a social network like Facebook or google+ and selling the customer information is not apple’s business model.

if apple ever does anything social, i think it will be limited to improving social networking features in apples walled garden and help sell more hardware and content. like using ping to recommend & rating iTunes content like music, movies, tv shows, and apps to your friends. they could also improve gamecenter for a better social gaming experience like xbox live/PSN and maybe have deeper integration of social networking features in photo stream, FaceTime, iMessage, and iCloud.

Purple prose was nice though… I may buy content (music, movies, etc.) through iTunes, but I don’t want to share my music with the world. I don’t want to socialize using software as the main outlet. I’ll go out with my real friends, have them over, …

Errr… apple did create a social networking site, but they built it inside iTunes & called it Ping. Since it’s in iTunes it lets you play your music & keep your contacts & whatever else iTunes lets you do. It certainly wasn’t groundbreaking.
So, I’m puzzled. Which part of this article is envisioning? Or are we predicting round 2 where they do the same thing again, but in a browser?
