Also, If he really wants to play a gamecube game, gamecubes are very inexpensive on ebay now. Some running at 20$. I believe its not worth trying to install homebrew if you are new to the whole gaming environment.

Um, I think that he may be using Homebrew to do that.
In other words, modding his wii.
I have done it before, and it can be tough to get homebrew on it.
So, streaming games from a flash drive that haven’t been bought from their shop is illegal.
Modding your wii voids your warranty.

The regular black or white Wii will play GameCube games. Apparently this new Blue Wii will not. It’s not an issue unless you have old GameCube games.

Hey A Human Being, thank you for that info. I just bought one for my son for christmas. Where exactly can you stream the games from? And is the Curious George Gamecube game available for streaming or downloading to flash drive? Kinda new to this whole Wii world. Though a quick learner.

This is the second version of the Wii. The original was able to play the games of Nintendo’s previous console, The Nintendo Gamecube. It also had two doors at the top to allow Gamecube controllers and memory cards to be inserted and used. There are even some games for the Wii which allow you to use the Gamecube controller as a control option.
However, this Wii does not have the two doors and is not able to play Gamecube games.

my blue one does, plus a ton of retro games if i connect my wii to the online store :) any games i can’t find there i just make it digital and either stream it to the internal memory on the wii or put it on a flash drive and BAM! can play any of em :) so not being able to just pop my OLD GC disc right in the drive is inconsequential :P hell puttin any disc in a wii is becoming obsolete… DIGITAL ALL THE WAY!
