BLU Dash 4.5 unlocked dual-SIM quad-core smartphone now available

The BLU Dash 4.5 smartphone from BLU Products is now available to purchase, bringing with it some mid-range hardware and the budget price of $139 USD. This Android handset is unlocked, and features dual-SIM, dual-Active technology for travelers and others who need to use talk and data from a couple of SIM cards at the same time.

Inside, users will find a MediaTek MT6589M 1.2GHz quad-core processor, as well as 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage space (expansion possible up to 32GB via a microSD card). This is alongside the TFT capacitive 4.5-inch touchscreen display, which has a resolution of 480 x 854. There's also a 2000 mAh battery.

Around back, users will find a 5-megapixel rear camera offering auto focus and an LED flash. There's also a VGA-resolution front-facing camera. With the rear camera, users will be able to record video in resolutions up to 1280 x 720 at 30 frames-per-second. The camera software isn't detailed, except for mention of an HDR mode, which – assuming it is like other HDR modes – will take images in different exposures and combine them together.

Connectivity for the Blu Dash 4.5 is comprised of GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and HSPA+ 21Mbps 850/1900. There's 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth, GPS, the ability to create a hotspot with the data connection, and a microUSB port for various wired activities and charging. As far as sensors go, there's proximity, gyro, and an accelerometer.

As far as software goes, the handset runs Android 4.2, while the smartphone itself measures in at 133.5 x 67 x 11.9 mm with a weight of 147 grams. As mentioned, the handset also offers both dual-SIM and dual-Active functionality, and has a reported battery life of several days, though we're guessing that's not with all the networks cranking away.
