Blizzard nixes Titan after almost a decade of effort

If you've been paying attention, you'll know that Blizzard has had an MMO game in the works codenamed Titan for years. It became official about four years ago, back in 2010, and has been under work ever since, with news about it cropping up every so often. That changes as of this week, with the game officially being scrapped.

Last year, the game seemingly underwent a big change, with about 70-percent of the team being shuffled around and the earliest release date being pegged as 2016. All of that effort has ultimately been for nothing, with Blizzard revealing that Titan has been scrapped for good.

The news comes from Polygon, which says it received word from Blizzard on the matter. The game officially clocked seven years of development up until this point, but during that time the maker couldn't make it come together as had been intended. Said CEO Morhaime, "We set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn't come together."

There are a lot of reasons the game was nixed: a lack of passion, a lack of desire to continue making it among them. The move wasn't without a bit of anguish, however, with the company's senior VP of story saying it was "excruciating" to do.
