Blame the Pope, not Apple, for your spoiled iPhone 6s launch day

While you know your iPhone 6s is on its way on the 25th, you might not know that Pope Francis is also in the United States this month. The Pope is visiting a number of states, heading to Philadelphia and New York City between September 24th and September 26th. During this time, security measures will be in play in certain ZIP codes, delaying delivery of mail with UPS. If you get your Apple product pre-orders from a different service, you may still be in luck.

UPS suggests that they are "implementing contingency plans to minimize service impacts." They go on to suggest that "no pickups and deliveries will be available in some ZIP codes," so we must assume they mean they'll be delivering only the most supremely important packages through 3rd party services – but that's just a guess. We've yet to hear from UPS what these contingency plans are.

In any case, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus pre-orders won't be on the list of "most important packages", if there is such a list.

UPS's mentioned "Affected ZIP Code Areas"

• New York City: 10001, 10007, 10017, 10021, 10022, 10023, 10029 (basically Manhattan)

• Philadelphia: 19102, 19103, 19104, 19106, 19107, 19109, 19123, 19130, 19146, 19147

Word of this service disruption comes from UPS via MacRumors. It is unclear at this time whether or not in-store supplies of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in stores in the list of UPS's affected ZIP codes.
