I really like the new Moto Q 9h also available on ATT. I think the two are comparable in features and price range – so look for a full review of the Samsung BlackJack II as well as a side by side comparison with the Moto Q 9h in the up coming week.

I thought they just came out with BlackJack the first one just awhile back. Wow cannot keep up with anything…

Thanks for the post Vincent. I was actually researching the BlackJack II last night as I’m on the market for a smartphone. Would u happen to know if the processing speed is a lot faster than the original BlackJack? Can’t wait for the review!

Thomas, The CPU speed did increased by 40Mhz, now it’s 260Mhz, theoretically should be a bit faster :) but since its using a new OS, it might not be; however we’ll definitely get it tested out on the review :)

Increased battery life, GPS and new Windows Mobile 6.0 are the biggest selling points of the BlackJack II. You can get the same features on Moto Q 9h. If you’re looking for Windows Mobile smartphone, these two handsets are one of the better ones on ATT network.
If you’re on Sprint network, you may want to look into the HTC Touch.
Verizon customers may be interested in the Voyager — only drawback with the Voyager is that it’s using a proprietary OS leaving you very limited options for 3rd-party apps.

T-Mobile customers might be interested in the HTC Shadow. SlashGear ran a review on the Shadow recently — I do like the fact that it has a better UI than the Touch, BlackJack II and Moto Q9h.

As for the faster CPU, according to some sources(TBA), Windows Mobile 6 actually doesn’t decrease the performance as expected of a new OS. I upgraded my Att 8525 (HTC Hermes) and it feels almost as fast as with Windows Mobile 5. There are some drags here and there, but considering that the Black Jack II has WM6 pre-installed instead of an upgrade, should result in a better performance.

Thanks everyone for their input. I may end up with this phone. I’m waiting for the review just to make sure though. The only draw back i had on the BlackJack II was that it wasn’t touchscreen. But it is a sweet phone…

Geek Thomas, what carrier are you on? If you’re looking for a touch screen smartphone, my ultimate advise is still the apple iPhone. I’m going to do my best to pump the review out today.

Hey Vincent. I currently have the Helio Ocean. I’ve had it for 7 months now. I went from a Treo 650p to the Ocean and that was such a bad move. The Ocean is way too laggy for me and i miss the touchscreen capability as well as the Treo texting UI. I’ll be on the lookout for your review.

I just got a BJ II and am loving it.
Especially with the Windows Mobile 6.1 update.
I wish it was touch screen, but the rotating D-pad makes up for it.
I had looked at the Q9. Lovely keyboard and a slightly faster CPU, but felt cheap. The BJ II feels solid. Never mind I’ve had bad luck with Motorola phones in the past…
If anything, putting in MicroSD cards is daunting — the fingernail alone isn’t alone; one has to push the back of the card with a credit card or something until it grasps into place. But unlike the Blackberry 8830 I once used, it’s nice to have a MicroSD device with an actual clasp…
