With all the tweaks to their full-QWERTY range, it should come as no surprise that RIM have been planning some modifications to their Pearl line-up of compact BlackBerry handsets.  CrackBerry have been sitting on some leaked shots of the upcoming BlackBerry Pearl 9100, internally code-named Striker, which has a reworked SureType keyboard and optical joystick.

No word on things like camera resolution, though there does appear to be an LED flash next to it, so we’re guessing the Pearl 9100 will hover near or roundabout the 3.2-megapixel level of its full-sized BlackBerry counterparts.  The styling obviously follows on from the BlackBerry Bold 9700 which is no bad thing, and adds up to a rather handsome handset.

CrackBerry are promising more photos and details of the hardware in due course, so for the moment it’s leaked shots and nothing else.  No word on when we might see the Pearl 9100 arrive on shelves, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it’s soon.

[Thanks Alex!]

The keyboard looks rather messy. There’s letters and writing all over it..
Maybe a change of font would do it good? Especially the “sym” “space” etc.

Other than that it looks pretty sharp!

I know what you mean, but I guess there’s a certain amount of text they have to fit in and the characters need to be large enough to be suitably visible. Perhaps there’s a market for a blacked-out Pearl 9100, with all text-legends removed for elite BlackBerry owners!
