I too hope RIM pull out all their remaining stops and somehow find big success with this thing. More competition is always a good thing. Keeps everyone else on their toes, like you said.

Also hope it proves a decent platform for developers, regardless of whether it has Android App support or not (most Android apps are nothing to write home about anyway)

If RIM do fail and go the way of the dodo, then I hope they at least open source QNX. Would be a great loss for QNX to die with BB.

How does “iPhone” come to mind when this actually just looks like a mini PlayBook? Apple has got to have the #1 fanboys out there. Everyone that follows BlackBerry were pretty much expecting a mini PlayBook design for the all touch BB10 device.

You do realize that the whole idea of iphone were adopted from the South Korean mobile industry aka LG’s Prada and p.s for CRAZY apple fanboys like you most of the “revolutionary” ideas that apple claims to have introduced to the world were already out like front facing camera (Samsung) , which had already existed in Asia for YEARS even before Apple “introduced” it to the world….and P.S I have a Iphone but I’m still being logical and not over-obsessing with it…Also you do realize most of the material inside the iphone is manufacture by Samsung right? So basically its the other way around Apple is technically Samsung’s slave because without samsung the Iphone would be a piece of deluding crap

There’s still a loyal customer base for RIM, and many business users still don’t have good alternatives that can provide enterprise level security like RIM does. So there are still those who care.

RIM does need to make up for their mistakes but they aren’t quite as critical yet as many seem to want to portray them.

They would have only lost their chance if they could no longer produce a new product. Otherwise it’s never too late to introduce a new product into the market. Being later than others just means they have more competition to deal with but that doesn’t mean they still can’t release a successful product.

While the iPhone comparison is misplaced and is neither here nor there for any real relevance in any case.

If this is the new design it’s thinner and longer than the iPhone and has a different interface than either Android or iOS. While appearance is only one factor and how it functions and whether or not it satisfies users needs is what we need to know to really evaluate it.

Really, it looks more like a thin phone version of the Playbook. While the shift in UI was started back with the Blackberry Storm, they got it mostly right with the Torch, and it remains to be seen how this new UI will appeal or not and whether the design actually precludes a slide out keyboard or not like the Torch.

Whether they got a good app ecosystem to go with it remains to be seen as well and depends on what state it is in by the time this product gets actually released.

I’ll just say that I hope they have fixed their keyboard. On the current crop of BB touch-only phones, my biggest complaint is the absolutely unusable keyboard. For a company who does the hardware keyboard right, I really had hoped for better.

I like the BlackBerry as a business oriented device. I love the integrated feature set in the BB Enterprise Server. I just think at this point in time, it’s going to be too little too late.

Great looking device. I hope for everyone’s sake, that this comes out and is a blockbuster hit! It could help push everyone to stay on their game- instead of copying each other and then blaming each other through litigation. Tried Android twice (S2 and Note for a month a piece)- couldn’t do it just yet. I’d love to find a contender that allows me a good user experience besides iOS. Bring it BBX! And for YOUR sake, don’t fucking half ass it!

I think i’ll buy this.. Finally a blackberry worth my money. My only complaint is the wasted screen space with the blackberry logo and at the front camera. It just made the device look long with a small screen.

Here is an advice to RIM – copy Apple blindly.

The Android fanbois will jump to help you out just like how they slavishly support Samsung when it copied Apple. They will further show proof that cave men from the neolithic age had invented the rectangle and square designs with rounded edges long before steve jobs and co figured out how to make an iphone. They will protect you with irrefutable proof that square and rectangle designs with rounded edges were also known to the Mayans and Egyptians when they built their pyramids- so there is nothing novel about iphone when it first came out in 2007.

So go ahead and copy Apple slavishly just like how Samsung copied Apple. The zombies of Android land will provide you with irrefutable proof that it is alright to do so. Samsung is making huge profits ( second only to the master from whom they copy ) by slavishly copying Apple, their master. You too can make money by copying Apple. The drones of Google are every where to protect you.

Sorry but RIM squandered its customer relations capital and then boiled away so much investor wealth there isn’t much left. Maybe a phoenix moment will arrive to save RIM but at this point who really cares? RIM depends on business customers and once to inject concern, question and the sense of failure into that scenario it is over.
