Best Music Apps [SlashApps]

An anonymous author once said, “Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.” Everyone finds enjoyment listening to some sort of music from classical to rap. With these five apps, you’ll be introduced to new music, have access to thousands of music videos, listen to your favorite songs, be able to find tickets to your favorite artists’ concert near you and learn the names of songs you hear on the radio.

Last.fm (free) is the must have app for finding new music and artists that have the same or similar sound to bands that you already know and love. Last.fm creates playlists of artists you enjoy as well as lesser-known artists that have similar sounds and are in the same genre as the artist you search for. This application will introduce you to a multitude of new artists you will also, without a doubt, enjoy.

VEVO (free) is the app with just about every music video you could ever want to watch as well as many fun facts and recent news about your favorite artists. With VEVO you’ll always be up to date on new and upcoming music videos by today’s most popular artists. You can create playlists of your favorite videos or listen to any of the premade playlists VEVO has already put together.

Radio Disney (free) is one of the best music apps with a huge variety of music by some of the most popular artists today. Despite being a Disney app, the station plays songs that people of all ages, not just the assumed target audience of teens, will love and enjoy. Although, if you have kids, the Radio Disney application is a great one to have because you don’t have to worry about inappropriate or overly vulgar music being played.

Looking for tickets to your favorite artist’s upcoming concert? With the Live Nation (free) app, you will have to look no further. Whether you’re searching for a particular artist or just want to go to a concert at venues near you, the Live Nation app has all that and more. Wondering what songs the artists might play at their concert? Check out their set lists from their most recent concerts to get an idea of songs they’ve been playing and find out if they might play your favorite song!

There is almost nothing I hate more than hearing a song, getting it stuck in my head and not knowing what it’s called. With the Shazam ($3.99/year, $5.99/lifetime) application, you’ll never have that problem! Shazam is a music app that can listen to a short snippet of a song and identify the song and artist in a matter of seconds. Not only will it give you the important information about the song, like the title and artist but it will also give you the lyrics, a link to purchase the song on iTunes, any tour information available and more!

In addition, each one of these applications has countless other awesome features that you’ll have to check out for yourself when you download them. I have been pleasantly surprised by the variety of music and information each application has provided and have never been disappointed by any of them. Each of these applications is easily personalized, making them great for people of all ages who like any kind of music, which is why they are the 5 must-have music applications.
