BenQ Blu-ray Burner

Wow…that certainly makes a bit of an impression. BenQ’s BW1000 external Blu-ray DVD burner, which sort ofresembles a black Nintendo Wii, will ship this August, so all you early-adopters don’t need to look to internal ATAPI drives for your Blu-ray fix. The device will be able to burn BD-R discs at 2x as well as tripling as a standard DVD and CD-R/RW burner. Reportedly, the writer will also be able to write up to 50 GB of data, which means that the BW1000 should support dual-layer BD-R. Should you choose to purchase one, be prepared to shell out a good deal of cash; the BW1000 retails for $1,022. So choose wisely; it’s either this or a new Macbook…
