Next on the netbook hit-parade is BenQ’s Joybook Lite U101.  As has become increasingly common, the specs of the U101 are more of the netbook-by-numbers generic fare: a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 display, together with an 8.9-inch version.

Hard drive capacity is as-yet unknown, but expect somewhere around the 80GB mark if rival devices are anything to go by.  Connectivity will include WiFi, Bluetooth, wired LAN and a 3G WWAN option, which could make short order of the standard 3-cell battery pack.  Ports will be the usual three USB, VGA output and a memory card reader, in this case a 4-in-1 unit.

OS will be a choice of Windows XP or Linux.  Expect to see the 8.9-inch Joybook Lite U101 in October and the 10.1-inch version following in November, prices still unknown.
