The BBC iPlayer app for iPad will arrive this Thursday, February 10, according to Interactive Operations Engineer Geoff Marshall, though it will only support streaming over WiFi connections. According to the engineer’s tweet, the iPlayer for iPad app will allow for catalog browsing over 3G, but demand a WiFi connection if you actually want to view a program.

The app will be iPad-only – rather than supporting the iPhone or iPod touch – and, initially, be only available in the UK. A US version is expected to follow on in June and be subscription-based, part of what’s believed to be a push by the BBC to make available most of its content, under subscription, around the world.
