Have you heard about the new Play 4 Free game from EA, Battlefield Heroes? It’s a cartoony military-styled shoot. Rather than charge you $60 for the game, EA has decided to release the title for free, and utilize microtransactions in order to make their profit. Details have been rather sparse thus far, but we finally have a few more tidbits to share.

Battlefield Heroes

You’ll be able to pick from a few different classes, which will seem fairly familiar to most. The Soldier is your all-around balanced class, snipers to pick people off with, and commandos that love to blow stuff up.

They are trying to change the game from your typical FPS. They have given the characters more health, and decreased the amount of damage that would normally be done by weapons. This will give players the feeling of being in a true firefight, rather than bang, you’re dead. I’m really not sure what to think of that concept, but I’m more than willing to give it a shot.

What’s it going to take to run the game? Not much, just a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, a 64MB video card and 500MB of free space. Look for the game as a free download for the PC this summer. I’m sure we’ll have a lot more details before then.

Nefing the Battlefield series is akin to making Football Manager more detail orientated…

I’ll be giving it a shot, afterall its “FREE” meaning you buy every map except the 1 free one.

Team Fortress 2 isnt worth the money LAME MAPS, and they’ve been talking about releasing “new maps” for 4 months. Not a great game either way everyone uses the rocket launcher soldier and its repetitive.

Turok sucks, Crysis is god awful, maybe this will be fresh and innovative and hopefully other developers will follow the trend of “free” games paid by advertisements.
