Oh, this would be awesome at paintball/airsoft tournaments! But I think that the graphics would suck, since there would be a lot of light around you. It would be better if the glasses had a closed design, with two HD cameras retransmitting video from outside to your eyes, including the virtual enemies…

This is quite possibly the single worst thing they could have ever put out. Video game companies already get enough harassment from hackjob lawyers convinced that games are “teaching our youth to be violent soldiers/gang members/terrorists”, and more importantly, those hackjob lawyers already have the attention of every news media outlet and far too many stupid politicians. This is just more fuel for their legislative fire.

I have an idea that wouldn’t have been nearly as controversial: they could have done a comparatively innocuous video with Skyrim in a park. Killing dragons with a sword and lightning bolts doesn’t have quite the same “Oh the children!” knee-jerk reaction as killing people with knives in close quarters combat.

With regard to the author’s statement that “people are lazy”, in that case you’d be shocked how many gamers started doing parkour after Mirror’s Edge was released.
