Battlefield 5 gets Project Glass concept makeover

While Google's Project Glass has a lot of people interested in the future of augmented reality, another area that could use the technology is gaming. A new video posted to YouTube shows a mockup of what Google Glasses would be like if used to play the fictional Battlefield 5. Rather than requiring a console and television, the game would run on the glasses and generate enemies and weapons on top of your existing surroundings.

Naturally, you'll find all the typical multiplayer tropes in the video, such as killing other players then calling them "n00bs", sneaking up behind opponents for stealthy kills, and being blown to the ground by stray RPGs (naturally). The video closes up by riffing off the original Google teaser video, with the player showing his friend the city with jets flying overhead and the city on fire.

There's just one problem with the concept: people are lazy. While it might be fun to run around pretending to shoot virtual enemies, this writer would much prefer to sit on a couch playing games eating M&Ms out of a brandy glass. Also, you'd need a ton of space to be able to pull off a multiplayer endevour like Battlefield. Gamers with smal apartments already struggle with the Kinect for Xbox 360. Still, it's an interesting concept, and one that might bear fruit in the future.
