Battlefield 4 adds Squad Join Beta mode

In late March, screenshots surfaced alongside a tip that the long-lost feature of Battlefield 3 — the ability to form squads — would be coming to the latest iteration, Battlefield 4. As anticipated, the feature has officially arrived, bringing the functionality back.

The feature was officially launched this past Friday, with the game maker adding a video showing off the new feature to the franchise's YouTube page. You can see it for yourself in the video below — it follows the screenshots we saw surface earlier this year, [BETA] tag included.

The Squad Join feature allows up to five gamers to form a squad before joining a multi-player server, ultimately deploying together upon joining the game and remaining together throughout the rounds as long as two or more gamers are in the squad.

More features are promised for Squad Join, with the developer saying the first "major" update will be coming soon. Things like party member management and using the feature across all the game modes will be added over time. For now, it is limited to Conquest, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Rush, and Domination.
