"BATMAN - The Telltale Series" launch date announced

There's a new bat in town, and it ain't your older brother's Batman. In development, and teased, for quite some time now, "BATMAN – The Telltale Series" is a video game that takes quite a different stab at the uber popular Dark Night. Because instead of mashing buttons to dish out pain, which you can't do anyway on mobile, you will instead be relying on your wits and decision making abilities to solve crime, beat the bad guys, and maybe catch a kitty by its tail in the process.

Majority of the Batman games from the last years have mostly revolved the Dark Knight's martial prowess and butt kicking skills. Sure, there's some thinking involved and some emotional pull even, but let's not kid ourselves. Titles like the Arkham series are action games through and through.

But that's not how Telltale Games rolls. The developer is most famous for its gripping plots and memorable characters in titles like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and The Wolf Among Us. Minecraft: Story Mode? Perhaps. In any case, this Telltale telling of Batman's crime fighting days, or nights rather, is no Arkham. It's an adventure game, the type of game that doesn't exactly cause your adrenaline to spike but fires of neurons like crazy.

Like Telltale's other games, BATMAN – The Telltale Series, is rendered in cel-shaded style, which is actually quite fitting consider the title's comics origins. Catwoman is involved and so is Harvey Dent, a.k.a. the future Two-Face. The games sounds more psychological in nature, playing on the Bruce Wayne's similarly two-faced life. There does still seem to be some butt kicking involved, but probably not in the sense of an action game.

BATMAN – The Telltale Series will be totally cross-platform, spanning PC, Mac, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android. The game launches digitally worldwide on August 2. Those who prefer a physical copy will have to wait quite a bit. A Season Pass Disc will be available in North America starting 13th of September and in Europe on 16th of the same month. Also like Telltale's other games, BATMAN will also be episodic, so only Episode 1 "Realm of Shadows" is being released next month. Those who buy the Season Pass, however, are guaranteed all five episodes when they arrive.
