Batman: Arkham Origins E3 trailer shows off new combat elements

We knew we'd be seeing more of the latest Batman installment this week at E3, and they have delivered. A new gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins has released, and it gives us a glimpse as to what to expect in the third game in the Arkham series. We also get a closer look at the game's villains, including Black Mask, Deathstroke, and The Joker.

The entire trailer is just short of two minutes long, and it includes both cut-scenes and gameplay footage from the game. Overall, the combat style is roughly the same as past installations, but as with any new game, Arkham Origins will get some new gameplay elements, as well as new gadgets to play around with that can take down your enemies.

As for the storyline, we'll have to wait and see if Warner Bros. will treat us with more information in the future, but the trailer notes that "your enemies will define you." The game is also a prequel to the first two titles in the Arkham series, so anything that takes place in the game would've happened before Arkham Asylum and Arkham City came to be.

We first heard about Batman: Arkham Origins back in April when it was first announced. We weren't too surprised by this, as rumors have been swirling long before the initial unveiling. The upcoming game's plot includes eight villains that are all coming together in Gotham City on Christmas Eve to target Batman. Since the game takes place before the previous two in the series, Origins will feature a "young, unrefined Batman."

It's rumored that Origins will also come with multiplayer, making it the first time that a Batman: Arkham title comes with the feature. Of course, details on this are sparse, and Warner Bros. hasn't mentioned anything about multiplayer at E3 so far this week, but we'll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled.
