I love my new nook, it was easy to set up, very crisp and clean words, I can store as many ebooks as i want, and I can take it with my everywhere! Worth the price!

It’s true that “books never run out of batteries.” Your home phone never runs out of batteries either, so why get a cell phone? Information contained in a book isn’t changed because of the way it’s delivered. If you like books then buy books. Even though e-readers can potentially run out of batteries most of us are capable of keeping our devices charged without much fanfare. Why did it take you three posts to say something so ineloquent???

hello–

you say “The nook will also allow you to view only the highlighted portions of the text in a single document, which makes reviewing key points easy.”

i haven’t figured out how to do this, nor have i found any other reviews that say it’s possible. all i can do is scroll through every page to find my highlights, or bookmark pages with highlights and then go to each of them separately.

is it really possible? how?

My peer and I just went through a complete bake-off between the Kindle and the Nook and the Kindle come out on top for both of us. We are both IT professionals with more than 20 years experience each. So, we both thought the Nook was somewhat fragile and not nearly as crisp as the Kindle. Note: At two of the B&Ns we went too, there Nook display unit was broken. We later used a friends to review, she was dissapointed by her purchase as a side note. The setup process was not nearly as easy. Overall, it just felt like a Freshmen effort, not smooth mature outing as experienced using the Kindle. Some of the If you read many of the other reviews of the Nook…there seems to be a trend amongst them in regards to the Nook and it’s 1st effort. I am sure it will improve over time, but at this point the Kindle is the clear winner functionally and commercially (sales and popularity).

Nonsense, I have a Kindle with a case and do not feel at all “uncool” or embarrassed. Not to mention the fact that I do not choose my ereader on the basis of “high-fashon accessories”. How absurd would that be?

Congratulations on a cogent review. I would be interested in your thoughts on B&N’s strategy to market the nook as a fashion statement. Partnering with notable New York fashion designers, they are fervently peddling a wide portfolio of cases and accessories at all price points, and are hell-bent on promoting the nook for its “geek chic” appeal, both online and in their retail stores. If B&N has its way, the nook will be the one device, like the iPod, that people want to be seen with.

Both Amazon and Sony (et al) seem to be slow to recognize the tremendous potential for capitalizing on the high-fashion accessory market. Hip nook accessories from the likes of Kate Spade make Amazon’s standard-issue Kindle case look embarrassingly uncool.

Nicely done video with the exception of the Big Ass Watch which itself might be cool but is a total distraction when the star of the show is supposed to be the Nook.
