You right it is the Techie Spec that does all those things but
unfortunately its that 50.00 that payed the bills during the Christmas
season.

That does not make them Zombie masses it just means they are deciding
that the fire will do what they want well and maybe some things better
than the Nook. I have yet to see a Nook app for my smart TV but I can
steam the content I have bought from Amazon strait to my TV from Amazon
and I can watch it on any device. So far I don't think B&N can do
this.

Its also that 50.00 that convinced millions of people to buy a Kindle... the same people that did not buy a Nook.

AII was saying is I think there was a big mistake made by B&N and I am not sure if they can recover from the mistake.

Money counts in this world and unless you can offer something that is
far and away more advanced for example when the original IPhone was
released people are not going to pay a premium for it.

The fire does the same thing that the Nook does with a stronger company
backing it. Plus they have locked in millions of people to content that
has been purchased on the amazon site. These people will never switch to
a Nook.

I would like to commend Barnes and Noble for continuing its great support of the Nook Color. It has had multiple software updates since device inception and runs extremely well. I find that the Smithsonian Channel app is amazing; video is crystal clear. I have not overclocked the Nook Color or altered it in any way. The Nook Color is very enjoyable even without alterations. I own multiple Nook and Kindle readers but have not purchased a Fire, even though I am a Prime subscriber. The Nook Color has me sold as it is solid, easy to hold and just plain fun. Barnes and Noble has me hooked on their 7 inch tablet design; and that's from someone who really loves their Kindle keyboard 3G.

I had a Nook Color that I rooted and overclocked, then moved from that to an Iconia A500, from there I went to the Kindle Fire. I have to say that of all three devices I've had experience with (and a few hours of play time on my brother's Ipad 2) I like the Fire more than any of them. I looked at getting a Nook Tablet instead but I just don't like the design. I have to agree that this version is definitely a better deal (especially if they keep the same 1GB of RAM) but I'll stick with my Fire.

I have never had a bad time with Barnes and Noble Nook support. They actually replaced a 1st gen Nook after I screwed up installing an update, free of charge and without questions.

You're absolutely right. If one does not care about quality and just wants to walk, zombie-style, in lock step with the masses, then the Kindle Fire is absolutely the way to go. Those "techie specs" are what actually affects your device. It's a "techie spec" that makes the Nook look better at viewing angles. It's a "techie spec" that makes it faster. These are not just abstract specifications that have no bearing on the device.
