Actually Andrew, if YOU read the article, the article clearly says “is perhaps best known for his spoof on the popular cartoon”.

You also miss quoted, it actually says “The unknown individual, who has kept a secret identity despite his growing fame”, not “recently grown in fame,”. His growing fame was mention in connection to the fact he has managed to keep his identity hidden.

Of course Banksy is best known for his art, not his clip on the Simpsons. I’m not sure how it can be claimed otherwise.

To me “recently grown in fame” kind of implies that he was not so known before.
But maybe you are right.
Anyway, people should Google Banksy. It’s worth the time! :-)

Alex, if you read the article, you’ll see that the author only says Banksy has “recently grown in fame,” not that Banksy’s fame primarily draws from the videos in question. I don’t think the author would argue that most people who know Banksy know the artist from his street art. In fact, that’s probably why an image of Banksy’s street art was included.

Actually Banksy is mostly known for his street art and his paintings (for years!) and not his work for The Simpsons or his “movies”.
