Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 8: 40″ 1080p HDTV

, Mar 17th 2009 Discuss [1]

Bang & Olufsen have announced a 40-inch LCD HDTV, the B&O BeoVision 8, complete with Full HD 1080p 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 500 nits of brightness and 6ms response time.  The BeoVision 8 also includes a 100MHz picture engine for smoother fast-moving scenes and compatibility with the company’s BeoLink home integration system.

The integrated speakers are mounted in a jutting chin section together with a down-facing bass speaker, in a setup Bang & Olufsen describe as like “an orchestra pit”.  There’ll be PAL, SECAM and NTSC versions, with DVB-HD digital tuners for those regions with suitable broadcasts.

No word on pricing as yet, but B&O’s talk of “entry-level” and “attractive price point” aren’t enough to convince us that this is an HDTV that most people would find affordable.  Considering it doesn’t even come with the company’s Beo4 remote, expect to put a fair few cents aside overall.
