My little ones keep touching the laptop screen icons.. my 4 and 5 year olds each have android phones (optimus, plastic screens.. ipods preferred but too fragile) but the 2 year old plays all day on the oldest while he's at school.

I can show you why the fire tab will suck for kids.. they love talking apps..

You miss the point, obviously a child this young can neither read or understand print or digital content. The point is that entire generations of children are now growing up expecting interactivity print can't provide from a very young age. Do you see a child this young growing up on digital interactivity reaching say five when reading is possible and deciding they suddenly don't want interactivity? I don't.

This isn't the only child or the oldest child that has these interactive expectations, but it illustrates the changing of wants and needs of children that are the next generation of content consumers. My kids don't run up to me and say, "Let me play with your magazine!", they want my smartphone or tablet to find their content. They don't want to look at my car magazines and see the photo, they want to find the video of that car on YouTube actually racing.
