AwoX StriimLight B-10 lightbulb features built-in Bluetooth speaker

Home automation not only gives extensive control over one's home, but also enables features of it to work in ways not previously possible. One example is the StriimLight B-10 from AwoX, which combines a speaker and an LED light to enable music playback from wherever you have a light socket. Using Bluetooth technology, owners can control the speaker using their mobile device.

The StriimLight works with any standard light socket, which then powers both the LED light and the integrated speaker. The light portion of the device is controlled using an IR remote included with the device, and the speaker portion is controlled using any Bluetooth-enabled device, whether it's a laptop or a smartphone/tablet. The only requirement, obviously, is that the light switch is turned on in order to provide the StriimLight with power.

The idea behind the StriimLight is intriguing for two reasons: the first is that you can easily scatter small speakers throughout your entire home with only the hassle of swapping out the current light bulb for the StriimLight, eliminating the need to run wires; and two, that if you're happy with your decor and don't want to adjust it in order to introduce speakers, the StriimLight is hidden from view.

AwoX CEO Alain Molinie said: "The AwoX Striim brand makes connecting things in the home simple. We made our products affordable and accessible so everyone can enjoy the benefits of a connected home, without having to completely replace their existing equipment." The StriimLight will be available in January for $99 USD.
