A new Sony PSP mockup has surface. The mockup pays homage to the old-school style Game Boy that was released earlier in the 1990’s. It shows the PSP as if Nintendo designed it. The mockup is fake, although it looks as though it is plausible, and in fact might fool people into thinking it is a real mod.

Which design do you think is better, the actual PSP or this new mod? I personally like the original PSP with its widescreen. This mod just makes all the buttons look cluddered. However, there were just so many intricate details put into this new mockup, and its great someone put some effort into something like this.
It was created by a modder named “MOD SOUL”, and he wanted to put his Sony hating aside and just create something cool; And indeed he did.

In the picture it appears that the PSP mod is thinner than the old Gameboy was. I think this mod would be a very playable unit. The buttons don’t look too cluttered to me. I also like the concept of a second thumb-stick. If I weren’t so anti-Sony, I’d probably use PSP modded in this way. In any case, it’s a cool concept and a very slick design.

This would be a neat mod for a GameBoy (I really like the black case) but a PSP wouldn’t work very well with this layout.

I think its a very slick design but the uttons are too close to gether especialy the analog sticks. It seems if you held that thing with both hands you would need very short thumbs to be able to place them on the analog sticks.

Seriousl awesome mock-up. theoretically you can case mod a PSP into anything, so long as there’s room for the screen. Maybe if you custom-fabricated a case to allow for the wide screen of the PSP you could make a game-boy-ish psp… still can’t use the normal gameboy case (maybe an old-school one with some modifications to extend the clear plastic on the sides of the screen.
