Averatec Buddy netbook in the wild; 3DMark benchmarked

The Averatec Buddy netbook officially launched in the US last week, but we're only now seeing the first live shots come through.  AVING were on hand to take the 10.2-inch budget ultraportable on a whirlwind tour of what looks to be a park and a library, though it's not certain what the netbook's 1.6GHz Atom processor and 1GB of RAM thought of the adventure.

Other specs include a 160GB hard-drive, WiFi b/g and a 4-in-1 memory card reader.  As usual there are three USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, audio in/out and a webcam; Averatec rate the 6-cell Li-Ion battery as good for up to five hours use.

AVING ran some benchmarks and the Buddy rated a not especially impressive (though neither all that surprising) 85 3DMarks in 3DMarks06.  US price is around $479.99, though that might be with the 3-cell, rather than the 6-cell pack.
