The much-welcomed announcement of the 17-inch MacBook Pro did not come without a little bit of bad news, mainly about the battery.  The new MBP’s battery will boast an impressive 8 hours of use, but will unfortunately be non-removable.  Apple’s hope is that you’ll never need a battery replacement, but if you do, plan on dropping $179 to get it.

The folks over at Engadget seem to think that the device they snapped a picture of here is the fabled Sony VAIO P, a super small netbook we took a look at late last month.  In case you don’t remember, Sony claimed that the P “fits in a pocket”.

HP has announced a new addition to their Mini line of netbooks, the Mini 2140.  This new Mini has a sleek looking design due to its all-aluminum case, though its specs are typical for most netbooks.  Check out the rest of the post for more details and a couple more pictures.

We’re starting to see a lot of devices wearing multiple hats, so to speak, and the D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685 is no exception.  Not only is the DIR-685 an 802.11n Wi-Fi router, it also packs network attached storage (NAS) and D-Link’s SharePort Technology, which allows printers, scanners and other devices to be shared over the network via USB.
