Apple has historically suggested that Mac computers do not require antivirus protection as malware is generally aimed at Windows-based PCs. To some, then, the advice was seen as a backtrack on this stance. The document, however, appears to have been the reminents of old advice, now removed as a result of the confusion to customers.

Edit: Apple has made the following statement: “The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the box”.

Its available in red and silver, while you are there though, I encourage you to check out the iPhone, and question why, after all the ridicule, AT&T is still releasing smartphones without at least HSDPA enabled.AT&T launches the GPS-enabled BlackBerry 8130 Curve [via intomobile]

I have a dog, and sometimes he likes to wander off. I don’t really blame him, it’s a big world out there, and there are lots of trees to pee on. There have been two occasions that he has slipped away where I have gotten quite worried about him, perhaps if he had a GPS system, there wouldn’t be any need to fret.Garmin is now selling their Astro GPS Dog Tracker (surely they were thinking of the Jetsons here) which will do exactly what you think it does. In addition to keeping track of your pooch, it’ll make him look really weird with the big harness and an antenna sticking up.I don’t think you’ll be slapping this on your dog for everyday use. It’s big, bulky and expensive. However, they are aiming this at hunters, who can easily lose track of their hound while their tracking animals. This will set you back $499.Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracker – keep tabs on the pooch in long grass [via redferret]

They are all for the European market, but they are still nice. They range in price from 150 to 300 pounds each. There is also 2GB of memory, a 400MHz Samsung processor, and SD/MMC cardslot. There is also a 2MP cam for photos or videos. The S90i also comes with support for real-time traffic reports, a free lifetimes subscription to the service actually. The S70 and S50 have the same screen size, but slowly deteriorate from the feature list of the S90i. the S30 has a 3.5 inch screen and probably doesn’t do much more than the basic GPS functionality. The prices are 300 pounds for the S90i, 200 for the S70, 180 for the S50, and 150 for the S30.Navman announces new S series GPS systems [via coolest-gadgets]

AAA, the company known for being a major help to motorists around the country, has just released a cell phone based application that does GPS navigation, and can announce your current location to a nearby call center should you need roadside assistance. On top of that it also incorporates Diamond ratings for nearby hotels and other points of interest and lets customers know where they can go nearby to get discounts with your card. This all sounds a lot like a certain Helio application, say, Garmin Mobile, that was released yesterday, coincidence? I think not. This wonderful feature will cost you $9.99 per month and only works with certain phones on the Sprint network (sounding more and more like the Helio feature). Those phones are as follows: Samsung M500, Samsung M510, Sanyo SCP-7050, Sanyo M1, Sanyo SCP-8400, Sanyo MM-9000, Sanyo SCP-3200, and the LG 550 also known as the Fusic.Press info
