nvidiaNVIDIA has begun shipping out beta Open GL 3.0 graphics drivers. NVIDIA has played a huge role in creating the API for the 3D graphics drivers which got a major library reworking with this release. The beta version is designed to give software developers a look at the new drivers so they can better create software that uses 3.0 to its full potential.

The beta Open GL 3.0 code works on both laptop and desktops and supports GeForce 8000 series cards. The Open GL specification for cards “provides software developers a broad set of programmable 3D and 2D graphics rendering, visualization, and hardware acceleration functions, allowing a program to run on a wide variety of hardware platforms.”

The $150 chassis has a 120mm fan to constantly cool your system and promises “silent, vibration-free” gaming as well as keeping your system cool. Putting your Xbox 360 in the chassis will undoubtedly take a little effort, so it’s not a great solution for people who aren’t tech savvy.

After pictures of a so-called Wii hard drive surfaced on the web yesterday morning, Nintendo has gone of the record as saying “We have not announced or revealed any hard drive.” and that talk of a hard drive for the Wii is nothing but “rumor and speculation.”

Rumor has it we won’t see Rock Band 2 for the Xbox 360 until October 19th. The game was originally slated to be released on September 14th. The original plan was to release the Rock Band 2 bundle on the 14th, and then the stand-alone game a month later on October 19th.

PSP-3001 on the way

Plans for the new PSP-3001 have been revealed by an FCC filing for the device made by Sony this week. Sony requested confidentiality when filing the papers but we did learn a few tidbits about the device.
