Audiovox ShutterBall Bluetooth remote makes taking smartphone selfies a snap

Audiovox has announced a new spherical remote shutter control designed specifically for smartphone cameras. The remote control is called the ShutterBall and works with several the most popular smartphones on the market. The goal of the ShutterBall is to make it easy for users to take self-portraits using their smartphone.

The round ball is designed to clip to a belt loop or elsewhere and uses Bluetooth and an application that runs on the smartphone. The remote control is compatible with the iPhone and Samsung branded smartphones. It does require a free app to be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The remote control itself uses a coin cell battery good for up to five years of use thanks to Bluetooth Low Energy technology. The ShutterBall also ships with a stand to prop up smartphone for taking self-portraits.

ShutterBall is available now in green, pink, blue, or black for $24.99 at Toys "R" Us, Amazon.com, and other retailers. The Bluetooth powered remote control has a range of 60 feet from your camera. Apple devices do have to be running iOS 6.0 or higher and the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 or Galaxy Note 2 have to be running Android 4.2.2 or higher.
