PLEASE don’t fall into the ATT trap. ATTs endgame is to legitimize its 3.5g as “4g”so that it does not have spend a dime on LTE. ATT’s mantra is to grow through phone deals through acquisitions and exclusive phone deals, which is why ATT defies the free market with growth even though it provides the worst data speeds and call quality of the 4carriers. Even TMobile, who does not have the resources for LTE, pushed their HSPA+to be second to Verizon’s LTE and faster than Sprint’s WiMax. ATT? Nada – rewards its iPhone customers by being the first to throttle and remove unlimited data plans. Now it is further trying to disguise the fact that they have the ABSOLUTE worst infrastructure by having Apple to declare its 1.5-3mbps HSPA+ as “4g”, furher postponing any investment they would be forced to by a free market.

Too bad iPhone 4s isn’t a true “World phone”. A TMobile variant would have caused a lot of ATT GSM phone defections to a much faster network with iCloud.

LTE, HSP whatever, 4s, 4g.5, pfft… I am sick of all of them pulling our chains for the sake of marketing and trying to suck us dry with all their marketing b.s. They honestly see us as consumer zombies, I am going back to talking from a can with a string attached to it.

Sounds like something ATT would do – play word games to confuse the public. Fortunately Apple fans are a tech savvy bunch and they know the real 4G is LTE and currently Verizon has it in spades. It would be inconsistent for Apple to play favorites like that, but then this is Tim Cook’s show now that Jobs is no longer with us.

Because Apple is smart. They aren’t going to make the same mistake as AT&T is by calling HSPA+ “4G”. What kind of marketing are you going to have when LTE rolls out? People will say “4G? I thought they already had 4G”. A lot of people think the iPhone 4 has 4G. At least T-Mobile gives fast speeds with their “4G”.
