Tough break for the AT&T U-Verse, the IPTV is facing a major setback with a multimillion-dollar battery replacement crisis that is known to caught fire, or worst, explosion. After Four of the AT&T U-verse network cabinets caught fires national wide, reported from Houston, Wisconsin to Cleveland, AT&T Inc. says they are going to suck it up and replace the 17,000 unit backup battery that were all manufactured by Avestor, a Quebec company that filed for bankruptcy in October 2006.

The incident that happened in suburb of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa was right in the early hours of Christmas morning. The explosion blew a 50 pounded metal door off five feet then blasted in fire. The Wall Street Journal reported AT&T has 400,000 new batteries made by different company and they are working on the project as soon as they can. But there’s no official words on AT&T on how long it will take to replace all the batteries. If I were you, I will be looking around my neighborhood if there’s one around the kid playground.
