I’m just going to unzip my honesty trousers and say I’m jealous: mere hours after reporting that the AT&T Tilt will go on sale in the US tomorrow (for the princely sum of $299.99 with a two-year contract, natch), I find out that ZDNet’s Matthew Miller has been playing with the smartphone for almost a week. Some things are plain unfair. Anyway, Matthew has not only grown to appreciate the Tilt’s myriad talents, he’s even come to appreciate AT&T by proxy.

Having returned his iPhone, Matthew’s AT&T account was due to close today; he’s now arranged to keep it open and is planning on picking up a Tilt for himself. As he concludes, the HTC-produced handset might just be the ideal halfway house between a subnotebook and a normal smartphone:
“I think I am more productive with the HTC Advantage and its large VGA display, but the Tilt is an amazing Windows Mobile 6 Professional device that has a smaller form factor for those who make lots of calls and don’t want to carry something as large as the Advantage around”

Very Nice looking phone.. This is for sure what I have been looking for. In fact, I could have had a 5th line by now in my account because I do kind of needed specially at the end of this month when we move to our new house, and with this phone coming out, I think I am set now on what I want to get.
My wife really likes the iPhone, and it does look good too and all, but without a real keypad, not too sure I do wanna spend that much money on it. Heck, we don’t even have time to sit back and listen to music on our phones anyways.. hehe!!

The iPhone delivers the smartphone into the hands of the masses by making ’smart’, easy to use. But for those who put function before form, there is no question but that the Tilt is the obvious choice. I’ve been using the 8525 for the last year and love it. The only short comings it has have been answered by the 8925; namely the GPS, the increased storage, improved camera and of course, the ability to tilt the screen for either hands off media viewing or just to use it more like the mini laptop it is. What a wonderful blend of technological wizardry!

I own an 8525, and I just don’t see the tilt being that much of a step up. They took away as many features as they added. The only thing a tilt really has over the 8525 is the gps, but you can pick up a bluetooth gps receiver for pretty cheap these days.

I love my Tilt, that’s all I can say. It runs a little sluggish with Windows Mobile…but I will try crackin it with 6.1 soon. As a phone, kicks all the other phones out the window….although the autofocus on the camera is a little annoying. Amazing phone though
